laryngitis...i hope not.
woke up with a sore throat this morning. it feels like i'm getting sick but i'm very much hoping it's just laryngitis. i haven't had laryngitis since last year. (for those of you who are unfamiliar with my relationship with laryngitis...i used to get laryngitis about 7-10 times a year.) i still have the majority of my voice and i'm definitely drinking soy chai tea because it is a cure all.
i officially have a job! i got the "we are offering you a position" call the same day i posted "this is ridiculous that i am still unemployed". i am now a barista at the starbucks on telegraph canyon. the same one mel works at. i go in on friday to fill out all of the paperwork and, i think, do some training. once i get in the swing of this job i plan on picking up another one. i need to build up my savings.
i miss being a student. that's really all i have to say about that.
i will be turning twenty-one in a week and a half. i will be going to a champagne brunch with my family on the actual day and then celebrating during the week with montes since she turns twenty-one two days after me. i want to get sushi and sake with wesley and montes some time during the week or week after. i am thrilled to no longer be limited to all ages shows. i can go to any show i want now. thank the lord. i don't agree with breaking the law, but i would have got myself a fake ID just to go to quality shows.
i have been getting back into the swing of sewing. i plan on designing some nursing tops for nichole because they are so expensive in the store, not to mention the selection and options are limited. i have been knitting often and currently i am making a stocking for jude and a sweater for molly. most christmas gifts will be handmade this year. =)
with that said...i end with this:
My name is: stephanie.
My age is: twenty, almost twenty-one.
I live in: california.
My relationship status is: single.

My decorating style is: ever changing.
How many children and/or pets: no children. one family pet. cocker spaniel, age 14, named molly. i miss my fishy, damien.
Something domestic I could use help with: keeping plants alive. i'm good at everything else.
My favorite "guilty pleasure" is: watching the television show skins.
My favorite domestic activity is: baking, knitting, sewing, any crafts.

Brisk weather makes me happy (and gives me headaches, so i wear beanies...beanies also make me happy)
The other night our bell was rung late in the evening. (late for not expecting anyone...so like 8:30 or 9:00) When we answered the door there was a white piece of paper taped to our door with the word "Boo" on it. On our door step was a gift basket full of Halloween goodies. Basically, someone in our neighborhood started this chain doorbell ditch thing. We are now supposed to anonymously leave two other neighbors Halloween treats. I officially like my new neighborhood (it only took me a year). So, I volunteered to put together the gift baskets and this is what I came up with:
I wanted to make sugar skulls Dia de los Muertos style, but I wasn't able to find a place that sold the molds. I still want to make some though, so if anyone knows where I can find a skull mold to make sugar skulls I would really appreciate the tip. We also added popcorn balls and two Halloween themed cookie cutters to each ghost pail. I think my dad is going to deliver them tomorrow evening and wanted me to go with him.
Last night, Tina and I took the trolley downtown to see Santogold at the HOB. Sadly, upon our arrival we discovered tickets were sold out. We decided to wander around downtown for awhile and headed over to Horton Plaza. A man recited a poem to us (which was actually really good), Tina bought some candy from See's, and then we decided to catch the trolley back to Chula Vista. We hung out at her house for a solid couple hours. I met her family and pets, and then we just chatted/kept getting distracted on figuring out where we wanted to eat. I introduced her to yelp.com and we randomly selected a restaurant in Hillcrest (because we thought they served breakfast all day). So, we hop in the car and make our way to Hillcrest and find the place. We open the door and to face a black curtain. We hesitantly walk in and are told to seat ourselves. We studied the menu to find no breakfast items are being served. However, wild boar is being served...along with many other exotic meats. We decided to bail and go on a search for breakfast food. After a tour of Hillcrest, Mission Hills, and North Park...we decide to go back to Chula Vista and just eat at Carrow's (which I thought was Coco's) because we knew it would be open. Our mission had been accomplished and it had been a lovely evening. I am now determined to compile a list of restaurant's/coffee houses/hangouts (in categories) that are opened late, 24 hours if possible.
Today, my family decided it was time to unpack the boxes in the small garage. It turned out to be a good day: brisk fall weather, old pictures, random stuff we didn't remember having, a three page letter from an old boyfriend where my last name is spelled incorrectly, the projector and film reels from gummy and poppy, the original clue board game was found! (thank the Lord), and many many other surprises. I now need to go through two boxes of old pictures and get them organized, watch those home movies, and play a few board games. :)
Life is just so lovely.

Prop 9 and 10.
I have read over all of the California Propositions and have come to a decision on how I will vote, with the exception of these two. I want to hear what others have to say about them.
California Proposition 10, also known as the California Alternative Fuels Initiative, is an initiated state statute. Proposition 10 is one of two ballot initiatives focusing on alternative fuels that will appear on the November 4th ballot in California. The other measure, Proposition 7, is sometimes referred to as Big Solar while Prop. 10 is sometimes referred to as Big Wind. More on Prop. 10.

Goodbye LJ, Hello Blogger.
After exploring Erin's blog a bit further, I realized that livejournal bothers me. I don't use livejournal to it's full potential and it isn't organized very well. So, here I am. If anyone has any tips or tricks for blogger share them please. :)
Alrighty...
Tomorrow, I have performance examination for a clerical position for the San Diego County Office of Education. I have absolutely no idea what sort of performances they will be examining, but it will take about an hour and a half. I'm thinking basic math skills and testing my wpm capabilities, but those two things could not possibly take over an hour...so it will be a bit of a surprise. Hopefully, a job pulls through very very soon. I plan on applying at forever 21 once I find out what the deal is with the SDCOE job. Also, Mel said that her manager will be hiring at starbucks soon. I plan on taking on two jobs so I can seriously put some money away for when it comes time to move out next summer.
Only five more sessions of my statistical analysis for cognitive sciences class and I really do think I'm going to miss it. That is my only class this semester, my eight week, night class at the National City campus. The higher education campus in National City is great. I wish I would have taken more classes at that campus instead of the main one. It is newer, better parking, indoors, and smaller. The professor who is teaching my class has been fantastic (clearly, if she got me to enjoy stats), my classmates are vocal, and the topics we discuss really get you thinking. I am going to miss school. I am (forcefully) taking spring semester off and not looking forward to it. I truly enjoy school and learning...it's too bad that my career can't be a student.
Let's see, what else is going on this week or in upcoming weeks?
The Office premieres tomorrow and I am thoroughly giddy! If you need to catch up...let me help you out: Last Season Finale. And if you have never seen the show...I demand you rent every season and take a day off from everything and just watch the show. You will not be disappointed. My biggest hopes for the new season is that the new HR person continues to believe that Kevin is mentally retarded. By far that is the best thing the writers have ever come up with. I really wanted to host a premiere party, but of course I have a quiz tomorrow in my class. Usually, quizzes are given at the beginning of class, tomorrow the quiz will be given at the end after the remainder of the lecture. So, I will be dvring The Office and not having a gathering.
As far as knitting projects go, I'm almost through with my second sweater. This time I'm knitting a cardigan for my mom. Here is the first sweater I knit:
After I finish the cardigan for my mom, I'm going to start working on a Christmas stocking for Jude. Wesley's aunt made his Christmas stocking and he still uses it, so I thought I would make Jude his. I'm going to try felting for this project, hopefully it comes out as lovely as I think it will. My hope is to make all of the gifts I give this Christmas, we'll see how that pans out.
Fall is officially here and I'm antsy for autumn weather. I do not enjoy the heat and have been eager for cold weather since, like, May. Fall means: California Adventure (if you click the link, you will understand why fall means California Adventure), my twenty-first birthday, Christmas, and then New Years. I haven't have a quality birthday or New Year's in a few years...so I am really hoping this year pulls through for me.
Well, I am going to do some reading and then perhaps sketch a bit before going to sleep. Goodbye LJ, Hello Blogger.
